{BRIAN: Go.}
BARBARA: You've been to Lake Tahoe.
BRIAN: Plenty. I had an uncle, aunt and cousins in Placerville. Uncle Marty, my mom's brother. We'd go out on his boat in the summer and ski Heavenly the four of five Christmases we were there.
BARBARA (SINGS) Getting to know you.
BRIAN: (SINGS): Getting to know all about you.
BARBARA (SINGS): Getting to like you.
BRIAN (SINGS): Getting to hope you like me.
They kiss.
BRIAN (CONT.) Tom and Olivia drive to Lake Tahoe.
BARBARA: Via Mount Rose Highway in the Cadillac convertible Tom has rented. They take the counter-clockwise route from Incline Village. At Emerald Bay Olivia realized she'd forgotten her camera so she picked up an instamatic at a department store near Stateline. Two of the few pictures she took are selfies that include Tom. In the first they are on a sandy beach near Zephyr Cove, the lake and mountains behind them, each with an arm around the other's waist. In the other she is at the wheel, Tom in the front passenger seat where the Cadillac is parked at turnout with a view to the Carson Valley.
BRIAM: Cowboy hat?
BARBARA: Check. Add boots and silver belt buckle with bronze longhorn skull. Not long after the Cadillac pic they stop Carson City to play the slots at the Nugget. They both did well, stayed for dinner and, not per plan, the night at the Pony Express Hotel, where Hunter was conceived. Thus his middle name Carson.
BRIAN: Really?
BARBARA: Yep.
BRIAN: Back to not per plan.
BARBARA: Yes.
BRIAN: Birth control?
BARBARA: Olivia used a diaphragm. Ninety-four percent success rate. Olivia laughed then cried when Hunter told her why he wore number six in high school baseball.
Brian laughs.
BARBARA (CONT.): Can you guess what the C in H C Hardyn stands for?
BRIAN (beat): No way.
BARBARA: Yes way.
BRIAN: Well, it certainly qualifies as memorable stay.
